How To Fix Paused Printer Issue on Mac OS
Mac print drivers are sensitive to the status of your printers. If you have any status updates from you copier like low paper, low toner, etc. the printer may tell the driver that the printer is in an unusable status, even when it isn’t! We can fix this by disabling a few communication protocols in the Sharp copier. Note: These instructions are for a Sharp copier, but if you can locate these settings in another manufacturer’s machine it should help with those too.

Steps to Fix Paused Mac Printer on Sharp Copier
- From the Sharp copier touch panel, Tap Settings. From the copier GUI click Admin login to start.
- Tap Admin Login – the password by default is admin unless someone has changed it
- Tap the System Settings tab, then tap Security Settings.
- Tap Port Control on the left menu, then change the drop-down menu on SNMPD to Disable
- Scroll down and change the drop-down menu on SNMP-TRAP to disable, then click Submit.
That’s it! You may need to unpause your printer in the Printers menu of your Mac’s System Settings before it will work again, but most of the time it switches itself back to a ready status next time you send a print.
