Please Replace Waste Toner Box Message
The waste toner box collects excess toner that is produced during printing. When waste toner box becomes full, the message “Please replace the waste toner box.” appears. The instructions below are for Sharp BP models only! If you have a model that begins with MX, please watch this video.
You can either replace the box with an empty one, or you can empty out the box and re-use it. In this article we will cover how to empty the box. It can be a messy job. Please read the entire set of instructions before beginning.
What NOT To Do When Emptying Sharp Waste Toner Box
- DO NOT do this procedure over carpet. If you get toner in the carpet it is very hard to get out because it requires a special vacuum. If you get toner on the carpet DO NOT use a regular vacuum. The toner is too fine and will go through the vacuum and vent into the air all over the room.
- DO NOT do this procedure in a windy environment. The toner is very fine and can create a cloud.
- DO NOT use a wet cloth to wipe off excess toner. A dry cloth works best, a paper towel is fine.
- DO NOT hurry through the process. Taking your time ensures you get the best results with the least amount of risk for making a mess.
How To Empty Sharp Waste Toner Box on BP Models
Now that we have covered what not to do, let’s go over how to empty the box without making a mess.
- Pull the green levers on either side to eject the collector. It will come unlocked from the machine and slide out at approximately a 45 degree angle.
- Set it into a trash bag and lay it flat. Using a flat tool like a flathead screwdriver, pop off the white plug on the bottom, and wrap the bag around the container and your arm so when you start dumping it out the toner won’t make a cloud. You may have to shake it around and back & forth a bit to get as much toner out of it as you can.
- There is a little clear piece on the backside of the container, it needs to be cleared of toner for the machine to recognize it as an empty tank. You might need to hold it upside down from that clear window and shake it to get it clear of toner.
- Once you have emptied the tank into a bag and cleared the window the best you can, put the plug back in it and wipe it with a DRY cloth as best you can and re-insert it into the machine at the same angle you removed it, and click it into place. If you have gotten the toner out of the clear trap it should resume activity.
